I was delighted to see that Dundee and Guildford both picked up wins against 2 of our Elite League rivals tonight and also quite happy to see that the Racers beat the Panthers, however I was gutted when I saw the result from the game in Bracknell, 3-1 to the BNL side. Whats gone on tonight I wonder, 3 wins out of 3 for BNL sides against Elite League sides.
As for Blaze, we could have really done with winning tonight, I can't see us winning tommorow night against the Panthers, hope I am wrong though.

Ouch, it's not been a good day for Coventry sports has it? I'm starting to wonder now whether the gap between the top 2 leagues is as big as i thought it was.

I'm starting to wonder now whether the gap between the top 2 leagues is as big as i thought it was. I thought that one of the points of this competition was that there isn't much of a gap between the two leagues. I would have thought that the game will benefit if there are more teams at a higher level. For me the Blaze's performance last night was one of the worst I have seen, a set of individuals on the ice rather than a team. The score was a fair reflection of the game. I just hope they can put up a better performance tonight against the Panthers.

Here's my view of the game last night.
Going on the coach as we were entering Bracknell we passed a circus hence several jokes about Boniface reffing came out. Unfortunately that was the case, and he would most definitely have been better off their than on the ice.
Blaze were appalling in the 1st, couldn't get anything going and were made to look static by a Bees team that came out fast. 2-0 at the end of the 1st was very fortunate for the Blaze as Bracknell were all over us and we hardly managed any attacking flow. The best line was the 3rd line of Cowley Watkins and Pease and they created a couple of chances but were unable to get any quality shots on net Bracknells 2nd goal was quite well worked by them but was helped out by some awful defending and how you can leave a player stood on the back post alone for over 5 secs is beyond me. Blaze players were apparently moaning about the quality of the ice, however it is the same for both teams.
In the 2nd the play deserved to be in the circus not on the ice. Blaze looked to of scored through Calder where the puck appeared to hit the roof of the netting just behind the bar and came back out, Blaze players started to go up and Boniface started to pint at the net, then play continued, no wash out signal no explanation or anything. Payette had the first of his fights against Masa who had gone after Tait and promptly had him crouched down in 2 punches. About 5 mins later there was a tussle behind the net with Tait involved lots of shoving, pushing and face washes being given out, Boniface indicates a penalty and promptly heads off with one of linesman and Tait (he never actually called the penalty though). Meanwhile Payette has been grabbed from behind by one Bees player (i think Ryan Alderidge) and had another hitting him (I believe it was Danny Meyers). Boniface ignoring the eruption of the crowd and Blaze fans shouts as Payette tries to fight out of the grip of the Alderidge, Neal Martin getting there to grab him and free up Payette. At this point Boniface suddeny realises there is a Brawl errupting on the Ice. By now Payette is free and is absolutely pummelling Danny Meyers who took a lot of blows before going down at which point Payette stopped. Payette was then told as it was his 2nd fight he was out the game and ws being led off by Tottman who got him as far as the boards near us when Wiedlich came over gloves off and offered Payette and shouted same rather abbusive things at him, Tottman trying to force Payette off the ice. Payette then gets free and takes on Wiedlich who he is landing punch after punch on before wiedlich takes payettes legs lifts them up and throws him on the ice then starts punching him whilst hes down on the ice. 2nd period continues through with Blaze killing a 5 min powerplay and no and 1 very good save by Jody diving across his crease and stopping the puck with his stick.
The 3rd was played in a niggling vein with roughing penalties handed out to both sides through out the period and Blaze towards the end finally creating some chances. Thommo called a time out in the last 2 mins and pulled Jody, Martin then pulled 1 back for the Blaze with 53 secs remaining. Blaze sent Jody back in for the face off and then as soon as the puck entered the Bees zone Jody was off to the bench. Unfortunately the blaze couldn't capatilise and the Bees scored an empty net goal with 12 secs remaining.
Overall the blaze didn't deserve to win the game and the scoreline in some ways flattered them.
As for Boniface a very poor performance where he lost control of the game and then decided to even up every penalty called towards the end of the game.

We were awefull last night it looked like too many individuals and no team i think Thomo will be getting that muppet movie out again. The best thing to do is put last night to bed and start again because another performance like that to night and they will have to extend the goals scored section in the programme ;D

London were beating Nottingham with 59 minutes on the clock. Panthers must have scored very late on. My second c0ck up in 2 weeks involving my post.
