With the result from tommorows league game with the Bison also counting towards the Challenge Cup I was wondering what people think. I personally think it is a bit silly counting the result from one game towards two seperate competitions because it means that whoever loses the game tommorow will have not only have got off to a bad start to the league season but it will also threaten their chances of getting through in the Challenge Cup. Also one of the reasons given towards Challenge Cup games counting towards the Elite League table is that it will make sure that teams try their hardest to win but really teams should try their hardest to win a Challenge Cup game anyway without the result counting towards the league. Afterall there is a piece of silverware to be won. If teams don't try their hardest it will just be a shame for them and their fans because it would be 1 less piece of silverware for them to win.

I know that fixtures are already jam-packed together, but I think it is a bit strange that one game can decide two competitions...
I voted no.
But I'm in two minds about it... you could say that the teams who make it to the Challenge Cup finals are those who get off to a good start in the league. I'm not sure.

I'm gonna have to go against you Rich, i think it makes the games more exciting/important. It probably would be better as a seperate competiton, but as it's fallen like this, i'm not complaining.
Go Blaze!

I aint really complaining I will support Blaze whatever competition they are playing in. However, I think it would be more exiting if Challenge Cup games were seperate from the league. Imagine if Blaze wern't doing to good in the league and attendances dropped a bit at the Sky Dome, a game in the Challenge Cup as a seperate competition would have people more interested and exited as they may think that although we aint doing to well in the league the Challenge Cup could give us new hope and a chance for some silverware. At the moment the Challenge Cup is just an extra thing they count towards certain league games.

Either way Blaze are 4-3 up at the moment so I aint complaining. If it stays the same we will be top of the league and in a good position to get through to the semi finals of the Challenge Cup .

Well I'm glad you don't play for the Blaze, if all you care about is the finals... in every competition, every game is as important as any other.
The early season games are just as important as the final weekend.

Interesting one here.
Anyone think they should do it the same way the BNL used to. Get the group stages out of the way to get your four semi-finalists then get on with the league for a couple of months then have a cup week end
Any takers
