The Coventry Blaze Junior Ice Hockey Club is delighted to unveil their plans for the season ahead, and also their new look image.
The Club have taken the decision to re-brand all the Coventry Junior hockey teams with a stylish new logo, specially designed for the Club by Leamington based graphic design company Pyramid Design. The new logo features a stylised dragons head and marks a departure from the logo used by the senior Blaze team.
Pyramid, sponsors of the senior team since they arrived in the city four years ago, will now also be the title sponsors for the Blaze Under 16’s team.
The Coventry Club are also pleased to confirm that they will be entering 9 teams into the English Junior and Youth leagues in Season 2004-2005. The existing Blaze teams at Under 10, 12, 14, 16 and 19, will be joined by Mercian Menace teams at Under 12, 14, 16 and 19. This represents an expansion of over 40% from last season and illustrates the massive following that the sport has gained in Coventry in just 4 years.
It is understood that the Coventry Junior Club is now the largest group of young people playing ice hockey in the UK, with over 230 playing members ranging from 19 down to just 2 years old. The Club will be maintaining the existing close ties to the senior club and will be aiming to produce more prospects in the mould of Nathanael Williams, the first local trained player to earn a senior team contract in Coventry.
Last season saw the Blaze Under 16’s finish the season 2nd in the North B League and take part in the promotion play-offs. All the Clubs team’s will be competing in the Northern Division 2 leagues at each age group, except Under 10’s who will compete in the North & Midlands League. All the Blaze teams will be looking to improve on their league finishes of last season.
The Club are actively seeking sponsors for various teams and would like to hear from any companies interested in supporting the fastest growing sport in Coventry
