Only at BNL rinks....
XO games at BNL Rinks = 10 min, 5 on 5 XO games at EIHL Rinks = 5 min, 4 on 4.

This is very confusing.
So are you saying that ice hockey has different rules according to how good/bad the teams are?

Must correct my other post, apparantly i was wrong.
EIHL Rules are: 5 mins - 4on 4. BNL Rules are: 10 mins - 5 on 5.
Cross over games are : 10 mins - 5 on 5.

Covunistudent. No just different leagues have different rules. The English Premier and National Leagues do not play overtime at all.

No just different leagues have different rules. Hardly ideal. Its very confusing. There should be one set of rules for all games.

But the leagues determine their own rulings and so the cross over games have to fall in line with that.
I recall when we were in the BNL playing in the ISL cup that they used the touch-icing rule at that time which confused a fair few people

OFFTOPIC:
Best thing they ever did getting rid of touch icing.
Touch icing is only good if you enjoy seeing players injured IMO

Were many players really getting injured as a result of touch icing? I like that ruling, adds a bit more excitement to the game.

Touch icing basically means the same as now except one of the defending team must touch the puck before the referee whistles to stop the clock. Basically it meant there were a lot of chases at times by the attacking team to retrieve the puck behind the line before the defending team touched it which lead to one or two tussles. Imagine the scuffles this year multiplied by 10!!! Incidentally regarding overtime BNL 10 minutes Elite League 5 minutes Against the squealers 5 minutes and 1 second (Or until they score ;D) Hope that clears things up

The best thing British leagues ever did with the rules of the game was go back to no-touch icing...particularly with the teams this year-someone like Martin or Lukac (or Burgoyne or Magdosko) would have been seriously hurt. I recall a small Steelers winger (may have been Bobyck) being somehow caught as last man back in a touch-icing situation, chasing back to touch the puck and being absolutely nailed by a Panthers d-man twice his size (either Kristian Taubert or Eric Charron-both considerably larger and able to hit) who had chased him in after being caught up-ice in the previous passage of play. Bobyck was down for some considerable time before resuming with a limp in his step...and I winced almost as much as when seeing Burgoyne's unmentionables being sent onto the ring-road...

Past few posts have got me thinking about rules. Don't post here though as I'll set up a new topic as this one has veered off slightly
