I think this could be a "15" rated match
I have taken this article off the sheffield star
website , should be an interesting game tomorrow
We'll Wade in!
COVENTRY coach Paul Thompson prepared wild man Wade
Belak for Sheffield Steelers today saying: "The leash
is off."
The Blaze boss is still fuming about the injury caused
during a game against Steelers recently that led to
the season-long loss of Pavol Mihalik.
And he believes Belak's legendary NHL toughness will
bring the animal out in his side, as they chase
Steelers' championship title.
Thompson has had one-on-one chats with all his squad
members in preparation for tomorrow's game at the
Hallam FM Arena.
"I spoke to Wade and told him I wanted him to growl
like he'd never growled before in that game," he
revealed.
"He asked me if I wanted to take the physical play to
the next level and I replied that I wanted him to take
it to the highest one possible against Sheffield. That
means fireworks."
Thompson didn't name Steeler Jeff Christian by name,
in connection with Mihalik's injury.
It was the big winger who was banned for two games
following the incident. But Tommo said: "Mihalik is
out for the season, some 32 games. You bet that we are
upset that the guy who did that received only a
two-game ban.
"The Blaze wants to be champions, we will do what is
necessary to come away with two points."
Blaze winger Andre Payett agreed: "I am ready for the
biggest game of the year and so are my teammates. If
that means fighting we will fight; if it means diving
in front of the net, we will do that as well. We will
come to Sheffield ready to win a war."
You don't have to be a genius to work out that
Steelers' toughest players, Dion Darling, Gerad Adams,
Mike Peron and Christian, are likely to have to put
themselves about to avoid other teammates being
intimidated.
Highy physical contests are rarer than they used to
be, but the Blaze game has all the ingredients for a
dust-up.
Sheffield coach Rob Stewart is unconcerned. "I'd be
more than happy for Belak to spend all night in the
penalty box. Our guys have heard all this sort of
stuff before" he said.
Skipper Darling added: "I don't think Belak will be
running around, somehow."
Blaze replaced Mihalik with Slovak defenceman Jozef
Lukac, aged 24, who was previously released by
Basingstoke.
What does anyone else think?
I believe with Andre out we will just play our normal game and go for the win and let Eva, Doris & co steam up about nothing.
