Just a few thoughts in summary after reading this thread, and from the perspective of an 'all-important Steeler' as opposed to the "High and Mighty" Coventry Blaze
1) Goals can't be scored once time has expired....so it would appear the O/T winner will stand.
2) "One day a Steelers player will get seriously hurt". Its already happened....his name was Paul Beraldo, and he was out for 8-10 weeks. He was injured by a guy called Corey Spring at the MEN in September 2000. Which leads me very nicely to my next point...
3) 'We're gonna get Darling Christian and Peron next time'. Yeah? you'll have a job on there, as all of those guys can fight if they have to. Darling has proved it many a time, so where this thing of him 'being no threat to anyone' comes from I have no idea.
4) If the Steelers did anything untoward to McHeadlock last night, then doubtless we'll be fined and suspended forever....simple really.
5) I hope you DO come to the HOS in January 2005 looking to settle a few scores....the longer you do that, the less time you've got to be playing hockey. You can't affect the game with 2+10 (or worse) in the cooler, so bring it on.

Totally agree with CB16. The Steelers can play well when they want to but why resort to such thuggery on a night where many attended for the first time and will doubtless not return, I can only say Thanks

Yep, that's spot on as confirmed in the IIHF Casebook. RULE 470 - DEFINITION OF A GOAL A - Referee Procedure 2. If the puck enters the net before the buzzer sounds at the end of a period (19:59) and the Referee allows the goal to count, it is not necessary for the Referee to conduct a face-off at centre ice. The Referee should ensure that the Scorekeeper records the goal at 19:59 on the Official Game Sheet. and RULE 471 - DISALLOWING A GOAL B - Interpretation 6. No goal is awarded if the time clock reads 20:00 or 0:00. Thommo should appeal against that decision then, surely. Because the goal was definitely announced at 65:00.

I would very much like to see the person who suggested that Dion is not a threat to anyone challenge him to a fight. Then we'll see. I would bet that this person wouldn't even dare say boo to Dion face to face. Saying it on a forum, or from the other side of the plexi is cowardly. You never know, he might call your bluff if you give him half the chance. Some might say he has nothing to prove, why should he act like a goon. I would also bet that if he did constantly get into fights, you would still find fault.

Got a note from a reputable source that Christian, Peron & Darling are in for a sorting out next time we play them. GOOD Here come the sources again, there are so many journalists in Coventry i tell ya. So if you do that are you any better than Sheffield? Why didnt anyone sort Christian out last night when the incident happened. Rob Davison sorted Peron out quickly in the game time. I'm not defending Christian but i cant see what hounding him down next time you play it solves nothing and makes you look bad

I think a round of applause is due to Andre. After a game of constant harassment and goading from the squeelers and Peron in particular he continued to walk away and did not bite. The bit that sums it up the best was when he was skating away from yet another attempt, stopping, and turning to Peron giving him a clap for his efforts. In the Pavol incident, I had the best veiw. When he hit the plexi he was no more than a foot away from me and it was one of the worst illegal hits I have ever seen I have read the posts on the steelers forum and try to post but I have "account is currently inactive" It seems to me that steeler fans don't like their grip on being the top team in british hockey challenged. They are abusing our players, fans and your city (I live in Leicester but the call of "midland scum" effcts me as well as Panther fans) I think they should take a reality check by looking at the league. Only two points ahead of us while playing FOUR games more. Also we have a superior goal diff of +20. NOT BAD FOR A TEAM OF GOONS FROM THE SCUMMY MIDLANDS (if anyone who can still post on their beloved forum would like to post the above paragraph for me, feel free0

It seems to me that steeler fans don't like their grip on being the top team in british hockey challenged. Why would we? But to be honest, its Cardiff and Nottingham who are the likely team to better us this year, not Coventry

I don't know why this thread was locked but I guess that was up to Steph. It's not really that cowardly to express our views on a forum or from behind plexi-glass. What do you expect, for us to jump over the players bench, run over the ice and tell him that we don't like him on centre-ice? Please, the players aren't THAT accessible. However I don't feel that Dion Darling is not a threat to anyone, I just disagreed with the point you made there.
