BEARS TO FILL THE AIR IN COVENTRY
Hundreds of soft toys will be whistling through the air if the ‘High and Mighty’ Coventry Blaze score this Sunday.
The first time the goal light comes on for Blaze in the game against Bracknell Bees will be the cue for fans to “air their bear” in the name of charity.
Bears and other cuddly creatures will be collected after Coventry’s first goal in aid of BBC WM’s Christmas toy appeal. Items that are collected will also be presented to the children’s ward at Walsgrave Hospital.
Blaze promotions manager Sally Lissaman said: “When we last held this event it proved very popular and showed the generosity of the Coventry fans. The ice was covered in teddy bears, which all went to benefit local children.
“It is great fun, something that the players get in the spirit of, and I would urge all fans to bring along soft toys to donate and make the collection, and hopefully the game, a roaring success.”<br>
Blaze game against Bracknell Bees is set to be a close affair. Coventry lead the Elite League, while Bracknell top the British National League and have the best record of the BNL side in the cross-over games between the two leagues.
The fixture between the two sides in Bracknell in September saw the Bees win 3-1. Bracknell have also beaten London, Nottingham and Basingstoke, and drawn with Belfast.
