Ruth Ellis was hanged. The last act of capital punishment in the UK. I wonder if it were still used as a punishment whether the breakdown of society to such extents as have become common would have existed.

The French Revolution is kick started by the storming of the Bastille prison.
Who knows whether our views on the French would have changed had they not taken this route 216 years ago

Would Maggie Thatcher and Tony Blair make the top 10? Tony Blair definitely Thatcher no. She is the nearest thing Britain has ever had to a dictator even more so than Oliver Cromwell whose intentions at least were honourable
