Hi folks There has been some problems with Visas and permits etc to get Wade and his family over here. So his wife is coming as well ?! I see on her profile she was a recurring extra in "Hang Time", which was a poor mans Saved by the Bell about a basketball team. Wow, that makes her more of a celebrity than Wade ;D ;D

There has been an interview with Wade Belak on 102.1 The Edge, a Toronto based radio station, about his move to Coventry. He was pretty up front, saying that he is going to the UK as a deal he had to go to Amsterdam fell through, he's not going for the money (well, duh!), he doesn't expect to do any better than break even. Then he said "I'm flying out tomorrow, I spoke to the coach, and was like "do you want me to play" and he was all "yeah, you can play, it'll be good to get you into the groove" so we are playing on Saturday and then on Sunday, then we are going to Scotland, they are a league below us, so it's a pretty meaningless game". Then he said, "I'll be there until Christmas time, I'll be back at Christmas, so I'm looking forward to some Christmas parties". ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Apparently a lot of players are going home on the 20th for xmas and then returning to play for the Blaze on the 26th against the Squeelers. So he didn't mean he's only coming here until xmas and then going home for good. (unless the lock-out ends of course). ;D Good to see him refering to the Blaze as us

Oh goodie!! That means my little girls dream of Andre and Wade holding hands and skating over to duff up Craighead will still come true when we play the Panthers on the 18th December then!!! I can't wait until she comes home so I can tell her! ;D

The rumour is that after the NHL's make or break annoucment on 15th Decemeber whether if there will be a season or not, the teams in the DEL (German superleague) will come poaching off the more minor-leagues in europe, UK being one of them.
Bascially over in germany it works slightly differently here, here in the UK we are allowed 11 ITC holders (imports for want of a better word). In germany you are allowed 12 for the entire season which means if you sack one, you cannot replace him with another import, which is why they are apprantly holding out.

There isn't a great deal of rough stuff in the DEL and it has a lot higher skill level than here, so I wouldn't have thought that any DEL clubs will be coming after Wade or Eric Cairns (so called Enforcers).
You've got to remember there is still a lot of NHLer's who haven't come over to Europe, and should on the 15th the NHL announce there won't be a season then a lot of them players will want to come over to Europe and play. (more skilled players than Wade Belak)

from what i gather belak seemed to do ok. someone said he looked a bit tired, which would be understandable. being in the country less than 24 hours and thrown into a game. he had a penalty, but someone said he had an assist. (not sure if thats true)
i hope people aren't expecting big things from him right away and give him time to adjust. i don't know if he was even able to practice with his team before last nights game.
i think he'll be fine once he figures some things out and collects his bearings.
