Saw one serious poll and decided to make one too.
Did you hear about that guy from Coventry who got a year inside for his artwork on the walls round about the city?
Personally I think it's ludicrous to lock up this man who is no danger to the public... he's only gone and tagged some walls. And he hasn't put up any swear words or anything.
If they were to issue a punishment, then a bit of cleaning would suffice. Anything more is definitely too harsh. I would rather look at some fancy spray-painted calligraphy than a dull grey wall anyway.
I feel sorry for him. Apparently he just got a new job, and has a young kid and everything.
What's more, people are getting "suspension" sentences for much worse things, such as threatening behaviour.

It is artistic the way he did it but it would start a whole series of useless copycats. There should be an official street artist so to deter others from wantonly abusing property the sentence was better than a slap on the wrist.
i wouldn't like someone like him to do that to my walls

If there were official street artists about, I think it would just cause the rogues to up their game and compete for the best art.
Fair enough if you wouldn't want people to draw on your walls.... I doubt many people would.... but jailtime for those who do?! Nahhh

I voted that i don't care, but i do. I am in between. If it is nice and good graffiti that is artistic and looks alright, then it should be ok to do it. Anything that is bad, like has bad language etc, should not be ok and the peopl who do that should be punished, but a year is harsh for anyone who does any kind of graffiti!

Not to argue for the sake of arguing, but what he has done is illegal. He should of thought about his new job and family before he decided to emblazen his 'tag' all over the place. He deserves the year, and hopefully it will serve as a deterant to all the other would be artists.

I personally belive that Street Art should be encouraged, and the council should provide more places where people and legally do it.
If that did happen, then a 1-year sentace would be right if it was in unauthorised places.

Have to say that if it happened on my walls I would advocate the birch in a public place

I don't understand? Is that a euphemism for something?

I don't understand? Is that a euphemism for something? The birch is what used to be used for public flogging usually in an open market place, where an unseemly rogue was given their just deserts for intolerable public disorder. These events used to garner large crowds of bloodthirsty townsfolk in the days long before X-Factor was ever thought of ;D

I know of this guy, apparently a lot of the stuff he was supposed to have said in the paper was contridcited.
My opinion on the whole thing is send him to some other City to graffiti their walls. Perhaps Birmingham.
