Nottingham Panthers coach Mike Ellis faces a dilemma over his import allocation with the news that defenceman Mike Rees will be missing for at least a month with a broken foot.
Clubs are only allowed a maximum 15 imports for the entire season and as Ellis has already brought himself in for the injured Sean McAslan and with Blaz Emersic being replaced, it would leave him with just three more to play with.
"It's a tough call," said Ellis. "We would ideally like to leave a couple of slots for later on should we hit injury problems towards the end of the season and of course if the goalie is injured."
Assistant coach Calle Carlsson is another option as a replacement and Ellis could always return.
He added: "It's a bit of a blow as the defence has been playing well recently but sadly that's how our season has developed."
