British Ice Hockey Writers Association Player of the Year is.... Mr Theo Fleury www.bihwa.co.uk/player_of_the_year_trophy.htmA hearty well done, many congratulations, I'm sure you'll all agree its thoroughly desevered. Leagues top in assists, top in overall points, a League title and now in the Playoff Semis. Congratulations. Third year in a row it's been won by a Belfast Giants player (with the joint award last season) and the 4th time in 5 years. (And we've only been around 6 seasons?)

I'm not really surprised about Theo, based on his point scoring record and on his team's performance it may well be deserved. I must say that word team again though, the way Belfast fans go on anyone would think Theo Fleury single handedly won you the Elite League title this season. You didn't hear the Blaze fans sucking up to our NHL superstar Wade Belak nowhere near as much this time last season. No doubt the Elite League and Belfast Giants will both award Theo a special trophy on top of his others just for the fact he came over here Fans of the rest of the league will be chipping in to buy a special medal for the TAXI driver that takes him back to the airport and a special Stanley Cup style trophy for pilot that takes him home ;D

Did I just see the words "NHL Superstar" and "Wade Belak" in the same sentance? haha... not even Leaf fans like him! As for team... check the 5 members of the two allstar teams that come from Belfast. We know our team won it. But we "big up" Theo to wind up you Coventry fans... which obviously works DWD

I'm sure we will accord Mr Fleury a special round of applause during the semi final on Saturday. To be honest very few are doubting that he isn't still a fine player, the stats kind of bear that out. He doesn't get stick of us because his playing ability is so good that it defeats us but purely because his behaviour on a number of occasions has been less than exemplary. Great player but a horrible person

I think the stick was origionally just banter because he was a player that a fair few supporters had heard of, but his behaviour has turned him into a hate figure.

May I be the first Blaze fan to congratulate him without a backhanded dig... Karma, people, karma....

Behave, my Belfast friend... As a connissoeur of the art of "fishing", I salute you, however... I suggest you leave Wade alone though...after all, as Madcat says-he is still in the NHL...barely. And he did cut a fair few Giants down to size in the games last season...I remember one hit on Awada....

Here´s a point though...
Curtis Huppe Belfast 43 33 24 57 12 0 54
Theo Fleury Belfast 44 24 68 92 3 0 304
I know which one I´d rather have. And it ain´t Theo.
