Final talks take Devils ice rink a step closer-Echo Mar 22 2006

Phillip Nifield, South Wales Echo
A deal to build a temporary ice rink at the Cardiff International Sports Village is close to being sealed.
Cardiff council said it had agreed a tender with Finnish-based Kevythalli Oy, which is also building an ice house at Altrincham, near Manchester.
The move of the Cardiff Devils and ice skating to Cardiff Bay will clear the way for the demolition of the existing rink as part of the St David's 2 redevelopment.
Council leader Rodney Berman said: 'We have agreed the price tender and are finalising details of the contract which we expect to finalise shortly.
'The agreement has been slightly complicated by the fact that we are dealing with a company in Finland where different rules apply. A condition of that contract is that the rink is ready for the start of the Devils' season in September.
'We are also still trying to shorten the window between the demolition of the existing rink and the temporary facility beyond May 31. The current understanding is that the temporary rink at Ferry Road will be operated by the council.'
He sought to reassure the Devils management concerned that it had not received anything in writing from the council confirming the temporary rink at Cardiff International Sports Village which, they say, is necessary for them to offer contracts to players for the next season.
'The council has given an assurance about the temporary rink being available in September and there should be no need for them to have doubts,' he added.
