Learned how to win trophies again but more importantly forgot how to lose with grace and consequently lost a lot of neutral fans who had a soft spot for the team from Norn Iron.
No doubt about the 2 guys who grabbed the headlines.....and some were even to do with their hockey abilities, but were it not for the excellent Minard between the pipes, O'Brien who had added a bit of fight and Awada who was always dangerous attacking the net then the Giants might have found things a little more tricky.
I pondered at the start of the season how the Giants opting out of the Challenge Cup would affect them- it seemed to keep them good for their league campaign until the wheels started to fall off.
Disgraceful behaviour at a number of fixtures will sour the achievements of this team.
Which Belfast will we see in the play offs Jeckyll or Hyde?
Grading B-

Belfast have been the best team this season and nobody can take that away from them. However are they a patch on the 2003-04 Elite League champions? Probably not. Are they a patch on last season's league champions? I can honestly say without needing even a second to think about it no.

I would imagine Giants fans themselves would admit that they aren't a patch on the title winners of 2002. Remember when the ISL used to be on SKY? They were pretty useful back then

Although I never followed the Super League because Blaze were in the BNL back then I do remember hearing that Belfast won the title in early January. Still their fans shouldn't compare the two. A league title is a league title regardless of how early you win or how many points you win it by.

Fingers crossed they choke as usual in the play offs as Fleury in the final 4 would spoil it for most people

It would be great though if fans of the other seven teams (regardless of who Belfast were playing) all worked together in getting on his back. Show him what British hockey is really about.

Aahh right.. I thought British Hockey was all about entertainment, skill and a mildly fast paced european game filled with wanna-be's (Graeme Belak) and "Never were's" (Wade Belak) But now I see its all about loutish behaviour and not appreciating the game Classy!

Loutish behaviour? Now whom do I know of who fits that bill Is this not what you're advocating? Lets stick to the point instead of trying to be clever eh?

I suppose 'has beens' who brought the game negative press are better than current NHL players (WB) who have kept their nose clean. I might see it differently if Theo's departure from the NHL had been honourable. Incidently when did the Belaks become relevant to a thread called Giants Season Review?

Exactly. No purpose in dragging the BElaks onto a review of the Giants season.
Fleurys behaviour on the other hand is a focal point of the same

If we're talking about skill then in the three games that I have seen Theo Fleury play in, I'd say that I have seen slightly less skill from him than what I saw from James Pease when we used him as a 3rd line forward in one or two games a couple of seasons ago.

Subtle.. but its there... ep! But i still think everyone should just spread the love... whats with all the negativity.... I think if it carries on there'll be disagreements to almost everything and then the whole league would fall apart....End of british Ice hockey as we know it...
