I read that alot of Blaze fans are takin a bit of a roasting for cheering after an opposing went down injured and was subsequently out cold. So what its part and parcel of the game. Your teams go out every week and skate at high speed slam into the side and each other thats why they look like they do. But one thing puzzles me why fight its piont less your playing a rough game so why don't they take that into consideration. Not only is it stupid for a player to start a personal vendeta but he's going to get sin binned and possibly recieve a ban which cost the team. I've heard so much about the fighting but when i went to my first blaze game it just looked like handbags at dawn, is it really worth getting banned for a bit of pushing and shoving, plus if it was fistycuffs whats the piont your padded up to the eye balls it,s not going to hurt "durh". someone please explain why all this goes on. As for some of the players i've heard are hard as nails well i don't think that is the case hard as blue tack and just as thick. tata for now. Booboo

often fights happen in the heat of the moment and the adrenaline is pumpin and the gloves come off. When this happens, the players do get hurt. I mean these are tough, tough guys often throwing bombs at one another. Players are signed to teams purely to intimidate, stick up for his team mates and fight such as Jeremy Cornish (Racers). Fighting can also be strategy, for example last night, London -v- Sheffield. Cornish and Darling dropped um. Now, Cornish is not really a good player and rarely puts ANY points on the board, however Darling, is the sheffield captain and a huge influence on the ice. So London being without Cornish is no problem at all in comparison to sheffield missing Darling whilst sitting out their penalties. So these 2 fighting will help London in the sense that for 2+2 minutes Sheffield are without one of their best players, well as London aren't missing out except for a little bit less physical prescense for the 2+2 minutes. Fighting is also a part of the game, in the respect that alot of the fans like the fights and the fans pay the wages- comprende?

Yeah look at all that padding around their face!!!!!!!!! The middle of the stomoch has very limited padding and if most people fight properly then the helmut should be off aswell so its basically bare knuckle brawling

Wacko, I can sort of see where your coming from with that post and I am sure that other fans have thought about the same points that you mentioned. However, at the end of the day from a fans point of view, fights do make the game of ice hockey more entertaining and do draw in spectators. I know at least 10 people that only actually started watching ice hockey for the fights, I'm not saying its not an exiting sport without fights but fights do add even more exitment.

Im one of those guys who first started watching hockey for the fight's..It was on tranworld sport between Donald Brasheur and Domi it got me hooked to hockey and ive followed the flyers since..Wacko what a silly thing to say that it does'nt hurt when the players are padded up,most players drop the gloves and helmets and go bare knuckle boxing on ice .To say there wuss's is just funny..take it you've never been in a proper fight or you would have had more sence than to type this noncense..

"Fighting is killing hockey, it's dragging it through the mud".
I don't see what the fasination is with it. If you want to watch Boxing, then go watch Boxing. I do, and i enjoy it, but Hockey is at it's best when it's clean, skillful, with hard clean checking. That is the way to play hockey instead of it being last man standing.

Simple fact is hockey is at its best when its skillful, fast and hard hitting, unfortunately not all teams play like that and a lot of holding and stickwork goes on. Unfortunately the refs miss, don't see, possibly ignore some of this. The problem is how do you react to it. Do you let players stop others by using sticks / cheap shotting back and risk injuries being caused by people swinging sticks at each other, or do you allow players to square off and resolve issues by fighting.

I'm gonna pose a question now on the Fighting/Non-fighting angle
Was last nights match the better for the fights or not?
