Hay I'm new to the ice hockey world, I have been to see a few matches, and REALLY enjoyed them, (especially when Mihalk checked creighead, and he wound up on his back wondering what hit him) but I am confused as to some of the rules. Can someone explaine to me iceing? I know this may sound a really stupid question to most, but I kinda wanna understand the game, rather than sit there trying to figure it out. thanks blue x

I believe the icing rule is as follows:
Should any player of a team, equal or superior in numerical strength to the opposing team, shoot, bat or deflect the puck from his own half of the ice beyond the goal line of the opposing team, play shall be stopped and the puck faced-off at the end face-off spot of the offending team.
Vaguely.

My View of icing is basically, if a player passes or shoots the puck from his own half past the opposing team's goal line without being touched by another player, Icing is called.
*EDIT* for not paying attention in English and learning how to spell properly

Thank you, for that....it is way clearer.
My friend was trying to explaine it during last Sundays game but I couldn't hear what he was saying.

Main rule to learn is that the ref is always wrong unless he calls a penalty on the opposition ;D ;D ;D

Another thing to remember is the refs have far too much influence on the game rather sadly by dumb calls that they make. although to be fair i thought boniface did well last night.

Hi all,
Thank you for that link, i found it quite amusing, and definatly far easier to understand than my mate shouting at the top of his lungs over the music and the crowd at the panthers game.
I get my blaze shirt today! ;D
got to go

You're welcome. Hopefully some of the strange things that happen will now make a bit more sense.
