The Rink Rush Newsletter No. 2
Clubs Support The Rink Rush
Following our successful launch over the summer, clubs and governing bodies have been offering their support to The Rink Rush.
Our home club, Nottingham Panthers, were the first to get on board. We will complete The Rink Rush on the evening of Saturday 19th February, when Panthers will be playing at home at the NIC against the Belfast Giants. The club have agreed to us carrying out a bucket collection at that game to give a final boost to our funds. They have also kindly donated the shirt worn by Lee Jinman for his first game back in Nottingham last season to be sold in our auction.
Meanwhile, the London Racers are also firmly behind our project. The Racers are having special, limited edition shirts made, incorporating The Rink Rush logo, which the team will wear when we visit London on the first night of the event, 13th February. The signed game worn shirts will then be included in our auction.
The Bracknell Bees and the Peterborough Phantoms have also promised signed shirts for the auction, while Ice Hockey UK have given us their backing and donated a Great Britain team tracksuit. We will also be receiving merchandise from Steve Chartrand's testimonial events.
Thanks to all the clubs, officials and players who have been in touch with us so far. We look forward to welcoming more clubs on board in the coming weeks.
Our First Corporate Sponsor
bmibaby this week became The Rink Rush's first corporate sponsor, when they agreed to support us with return flights to Belfast during the event. This gives a real boost to our tight schedule for the week. We will be at the Odyssey Arena on the evening of Tuesday 15th February, when we will also be spending the night in Belfast. Our thanks go to bmibaby for their generous support. Visit them at www.bmibaby.com
The Rink Rush 50-50 Quiz
As the next stage in our fundraising efforts, we have organised a prize quiz. It is a general knowledge quiz with 200 questions, to be completed and submitted by post or email. It costs £2 to enter, of which £1 will go directly to Cancer Research UK and the other £1 going into the prize fund. To enter, send a cheque for £2 (payable to The Rink Rush) and either an SAE or a valid e-mail address to request your entry form:
The Rink Rush
33 Tettenbury Road
Basford
Nottingham
NG5 1LA
Alternatively, you can find us in The Castle pub after Panthers home games, where we will have plenty of entry forms available.
Full details and rules can be found on our website: www.therinkrush.org.uk
Sponsorship
Our sponsorship efforts continue!
We still require a minibus for the event, and accommodation in the cities we will be visiting. If you know of any company or organisation that has a minibus they might be prepared to loan us, please let us know who to contact.
Meanwhile, we are concentrating on attracting more corporate sponsorship. Various packages are available to companies who want to support our cause. If you think that a company you work for or know of might be interested, please send us details of who we should send our sponsorship pack to.
Of course, if you want to pledge sponsorship yourself, visit our website for details of the various ways you can do so.
The New Season
After the long summer, the new season is here. If you're at a Panthers game, come and talk to us in The Castle afterwards. Or look out for us at Panthers away games. We are also planning to visit a number of rinks in the coming weeks to publicise The Rink Rush. We look forward to seeing you at a rink very soon.
