Hang on a moment newham some fans maybe and the finger points to the Block 2 lads for their chant whilst it became obvious Kim was out cold. As for comments only a handful of fans clapped him off the ice are wide of the mark i sit in block 12 and everbody around and including myself clapped him off nobody wants to see a player hurt. this makes it sound like something out of the colisseum in roman times and it was nothing like that.

from where i was sat, there was a great amount of people cheering the elbower off the ice. As there was a great amount of people cheering Tait off the ice for the check from behind. There were a good few who applauded Magdosko and Ahlroos when they got up, but nowhere near as many.

first of i stand at the back of block 2 and I didn't chant 'give him an oscar'. Secondly, I did and most of the rest of the fans cheered him when he got off the ice.

From the audio box, I actually thought that Ahlroos was shamming as well...for about half a second, then there was much concern as we realised he hadn't moved-I did wince when hearing 'give him an Oscar' coming from the other side, particularly when the medics came onto the ice and some people still didn't realise, or ignored, the fact anything was wrong-Kimmy was however applauded off the ice once people realised he was in fact OK from a vicious elbow-was surprised as the Panthers that Carlson stayed in the game. I will say, however, that Gary Moran hurling considerable abuse at both Blaze staff and players in general (including the comment that Carlson had likely been told Ahlroos had a history of concussion and therefore went out to elbow him specifically) and the fans (with every other word a swearword) was a bit much, especially from the Panthers GM-we could see as well as the majority that it was bad indeed. I'm sure Blaze fans will join me in wishing Mr Ahlroos a speedy recovery-he is one of the most exciting players in the league, after all...

Doesn't it always seem to be that people take a sprinkling of fact and add a large dose of myth to come up with their stories. FACT: The majority of people around myself and I daresay in other areas initially (Key word) thought that Kimmy went down in stages and was making a meal of it HOWEVER as soon as it was apparent that it was more serious the chanting stopped immediately and we did applaud him off with the medics. FACT: We do often cheer our players into the penalty box BUT only as a means of support to the player and NOT as areward for whatever happened previously
Having scanned the pages on the Cage forum I can see an awful lot of knee jerk responses and general castigation stereotyping All (Or 90% in one quote) of Blaze fans as lowlifes. This is simply not on. I seem to recall the boot on the other foot vocally, a couple of seasons back when Irvine got the worse end from Wood and the Panther was treated like a hero. It is just human nature to back and support your own and occasionally this may result in mis-interpretation.
Personally I hope that this doesn't signify the start of bad blood between the two sets of supporters as the NIC is always one of my favourite away trips (Along with Cardiff) and look forward to the welcoming hospitality previously shown there.
As a final point there can be nobody from any rink around the country that would seriously wish serious harm on any player and I'm sure I speak for all the Blaze fans in hoping for a speedy recovery for Kimmy

I should also add that, having scanned the pages, it seems that the Panthers fans are far more level-headed than most as far as the reactions go-if that had happened when we face Guildford or even Cardiff all hell may have broken loose-although I do object to the categorising of Blaze fans as scum-if that poster meets the away Blaze support I'm sure he'll quickly realise that we are in fact a friendly bunch, admittedly with a slightly twisted sense of humour and the incidents of abuse being hurled at Panthers fans at the Skydome by home support (of which the ones mentioned aren't the first, regrettably) are usually caused by people who have no knowledge of the game..

Always seem to remember Fife fans being the most hostile.
It does seem that a few of the individual bouts of verbals were the sort that would happen anywhere (In a pub, down the street etc) but just happened to occur in a hockey rink. The majority of times I have seen or heard this sort of occurence happen at the Skydome it is usually from JCLs who are rarely ever seen again (Until the play offs/big games etc)

Wheeler must of us have a slightly twisted sense of humour its just yours is knotted Personally I refuse to chant unless I can be 100%certain it was a dive and the player is not hurt, and thats basically hardly ever. As has been said the way he fell looked strange and that is probably why some people thought it may have been a dive. I think there is too much generalisation of fans, there were blaze fans chanting after the incident but I very much doubt it was even 15% of blaze fans let alone the majority as seems to be being indicated. And it was quickly subdued once people realised that he was hurt. Is there any news on how badly Kimmy has been hurt. I'm sure everyone wishes him well and a speedy recovery.

This thing got way out of hand very quickly! No thanks to Newham, who in a shameful act of self promotion, plastered his comments all over the place. Most people just ignored them - they know what we're really like, but still enough people will have taken them onboard and will be 'wary' next time they're in town. Which is something I think we should rectify. We're the ones who trek all over the place supporting the team, we make the most noise in the SkyDome and are the most vocal on-line - in effect we're ambassadors for the club. We need to be more careful about what we do - heckling is fine until it gets out of hand - and last night it was just embarassing - I know you guys had stopped, but by then it had enough momentum to carry on without you. A lot of the people who were chanting 'give him an Oscar' were the same people who were complaining about us being too noisy last season. Just be careful - if anybody's going to take the flack it's the block 2 posse - so keep it light and friendly I think we should do more to break down the animosity between us, the steelers and the panthers fans - I for one am fed up being screamed at by their away fans as they head off home. I'm proud of my team and my city and am annoyed that some of their fans continue to slag us off - regardless of what actually happens. I can't understand it - we built up a great relationship with the Devils, Giants, Phoenix and the Racers fans - so why not these guys ? In general, I've found that the travelling fans are great bunch of people - it's the stay-at-home fans who seem to cause most of the trouble. We should respect the guys who come to visit - if we look after them, then chances are they'll return the favour - just look at the reception we get in Belfast!!! I've posted on the cage forum inviting them to have a beer with us before the next game - can you guys make an effort to be in the OH early - bring your booster club card (we get discounts on food) and use it to feed people! - I'll buy the beers There's no reason why we can't be friends with these guys or the steelers - at the end of the day we're all there to watch the hockey. And you can tell that they're just a passionate about the game as we are - why else would they spend a few hours on a coach coming down here... Play nice and remember kids - Rave safe!

Well put Graeme i too have posted onto the Cage Forum and I see that they now see that it is a minority that cause the problems.
The whole "Oscar" thing happened too quickly yesterday but I did agree with what you said on the Cage about us starting and others following.
However we have worse in house problems to sort out by Blaze fans who seem to delight in barracking our own players Jody, Andre so far this season WHY they play for Blaze for Gods sake. Get behind your team
